My Gentle Start with PCOD and Natural Self-Care

My Gentle Start with PCOD and Natural Self-Care

Whether you're navigating PCOD, feeling overwhelmed, or just want to bloom a little more gracefully, know this: Healing doesn’t have to be harsh. Beauty doesn’t have to be loud. Grace begins where pressure ends.

For the longest time, I believed that taking care of myself meant buying the right shampoo or applying the right cream. But when I was diagnosed with PCOD, everything changed. I realized beauty is not just about the surface—it’s about balance, healing, and patience. It's more of what you put inside your body and how your body reacts.

Like many women, I struggled with irregular periods, hair fall, acne, and an overwhelming fatigue that made it hard to feel like myself. I tried medications, harsh products, and quick fixes, but they only addressed the symptoms, not the root. That’s when I decided to slow down and start listening to my body.

🌿 A Shift Toward Natural Healing

I began with simple, natural rituals:

  • Drinking black raisin water every morning to support my hormones and to build the lost iron.

  • Including spearmint tea and flaxseeds to calm my system

  • Chamomile teas before bedtime can help with sleep alongside some meditation and breathing.

  • Daily intake of some steamed moong and chana sprouts with a sprinkle of pumpkin seeds. It is a good source of protein and also boosts your energy.

  • Reduced the intake of rice because more carbs more problem. You need the right amount of everything. So, carbs, fat and protein are all essential in a right amount.

  • Adding ABC juice (amla, beetroot, carrot) for skin and energy. It's a wonderful anti-inflammatory drink and the added benefit is your skin turns glowing.

  • Fruits like banana, apple and pomegranate are much recommended.

  • And the most important thing is to never eat deep fried, oily foods which is going to worsen your condition.  I know it's a big deal to sacrifice our most indulging habit of craving for roadside foods, but this brings a major change in how you feel right inside.

  • Trying to get at least 6 hrs. of uninterrupted sleep. Yes, your body needs that to repair within. And for that sleep it's important to stay away from phone and screens.

  • Using homemade masks with curd, fenugreek, and aloe vera for my itchy scalp

  • Practicing mindful meals and gentle movement

These tiny steps didn’t fix everything overnight—but slowly, I began to feel better. My periods became more regular. My skin didn’t feel inflamed. I wasn’t exhausted all the time. And most importantly, I felt in control again.
